All Watercolor Paintings by Amy Dorkin

My life changed when, as a painting student at the Rhode Island School of Design, I saw a fellow classmate paint directly onto a surface with a tube of watercolor paint. And the color was so vibrant! A new direction revealed itself, and I discovered that changing old habits can be an arduous process, if not painful, at times. It was a powerful lesson that has stayed with me throughout my life.

Watching the paint flow holds me spellbound. I often forget that I am to direct its path, more often it leads me. Sometimes I am fortunate and am left with a physical imprint of my experience and impressions.

I ask you to please not use my images without my permission.
